Dental assisting earnings are one of the most stable certified positions statistics available. With the rise is dentists each year the demand of this position increases, which causes the increase of compensation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that “in May 2006, the median hourly earnings of dental assistants was $14.53 with the middle 50% earning between $11.94 and $17.44. The lowest 10% earned less than $9.87 and the highest 10% earning a substancial $20.69 per hour.”
“Benefits vary substantially by practice setting and may be contingent upon full-time employment. According to the American Dental Association, 87% of dentists offer reimbursement for continuing education courses taken by their assistants.” Obviously, taking courses related to the position not only provides the individual with an edge over any other job applicants, but also adds to the dental assistant earnings.
Other reports suggest that the median dental assisting earnings is $31,631 with the 75th percentile of dental assistant earnings reaching as high as $34,000.
